Follow along our itinerary and make the most of your rainy day.
Morning: Breakfast & Exploring
Grab your umbrella and start your day on King Street and make your way to the SeaBreeze Restaurant for a hearty breakfast. From loaded omelets to spicy Caesars, this is your place to kick off your day. Once you’re finished with breakfast, start your day of activities on Lower Campus Road at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre Fundy Discovery Aquarium. Open 7 days a week from 10am-5pm, you will learn about the perfectly positioned Bay of Fundy and the marine life that lives in our waters. This experience is fun for the whole family. After an hour or two exploring the aquarium, you have probably worked up an appetite.
Afternoon: Lunch & Touring
Next stop- lunch! Head to water street for a taste of the Maritimes. Char and Chowder is a St. Andrews favourite. With their newly renovated space, you can have lunch under a pergola type setting while you listen to the rain. They offer everything from seafood and sandwiches, to veggie burgers. If you are in the mood for classic fish and chips or lobster rolls, check out The Gables Restaurant or the Harbour Front Restaurant, both located on Water Street. Once you’re finished lunch, grab a pick me up at Honeybeans Coffee, Tea & Treats. Choose from a classic drip coffee, or treat yourself to a seasonal latte. Now that you have a hot drink, it is time for dessert. McGuire Chocolate Company is the spot to go for hand-crafted small batch chocolates and homemade ice cream. Once your craving has been satisfied, check out one of our many beautiful art galleries. St. Andrews is home to many talented artists. Some of the galleries you will find on Water Street include Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre, Serendipin’ Art, and so many others (check out our gallery hop itinerary for a full art gallery list). While gallery hopping, don’t forget to pop into the many shops between the galleries. Maybe you will find your next favourite locally crafted mug or pair of cozy slippers.
After browsing the fabulous selection of art and shops in our quaint town, why not check out the fascinating history of St. Andrews. Head to the Oppenheimer-Prager Museum at Dayspring for a tour of one of the largest houses in St. Andrews packed full of stories and stunning collections of art painted by Joseph Oppenheimer and Eva Prager. At this point in your day, you will probably have another hour before you head for dinner. Next stop – the Saint Andrews Brewing Company. Have a pint or a flight of locally crafted brews. This is a perfect chance to relax and watch the rain fall while sipping on an IPA. After your pre-dinner beverage, it is time to head to the Chandler Room at the Treadwell Inn. Their menu offers a wide variety of sharables including a selection of fresh seafood plates, charcuterie boards, and other savoury dishes. With a beautiful wine list to be paired with these small plates, this is a great way to experience all the flavours St. Andrews has to offer.
Evening: Relaxing Wine & Dine
The sun is setting, the rain continues and night is near. After a few hours at dinner, you may be in the mood for a night cap. If so, finish off your evening at the Red Herring Pub for a cold beer on tap or a fun cocktail. If you are visiting on a Friday or Saturday night, you will most likely be greeted with the sounds of local musicians.
